the 2010 oscars

i'm sure bloggers around the world are writing similar posts, but i just wanted to share my two cents worth. =)

i was blown away by anna kendrick and her look was my favorite of the night. whoever styled her deserves a huge tip! anna looks flawless from head to toe. everything from her hair and makeup to her dress and accessories was fabulous. i'm such a huge fan of what elie saab has been designing lately. lovely!

and these are the rest who deserve honorable mention. i couldn't believe how nicely kristen stewart cleaned up. i'm not a huge fan (actually, i'm not a fan at all) of miley cyrus but i loved her dress, as well. meryl streep does age appropriateness like none other. i included her because this is how i want my mom to be dressing haha. and who doesn't want to be as beautiful as rachel mcadams in elie saab?

as usual, most of the oscars was a bore, but i do love how they changed it up with two hosts - steve martin and alec baldwin. they both have such great comedic timing. however, my favorite moment of the night had to be ben stiller presenting the makeup award. i was literally LOL-ing on my couch.

it's a rainy and gloomy day here in houston. is it time to go home, yet?

french wire.

francophile [frang-kuh-fahyl] - noun: an admirer of France and everything French.

my love affair with everything french began when i was 12 years old and in the 6th grade. i elected to take a course entitled "french culture & language" with madame birchfield. little did i know that at such a young age, french roots were being planted in my world. when i was 22 and after 10 years of french courses, i graduated with a minor in french from the university of texas. i have never been able to explain this fascination in words, but as cliché as it may sound, the french just have a certain je ne sais quoi. whatever it is and in whatever form it's in, it never fails to excite me or make me smile.

i was flipping through the pottery barn catalog the other day and came across some new, fantastic pieces that make me say, "oooooh" every time i see them. i have always loved the look of french wire and that is what this new collection is all about.

anthropologie, my favorite store, also has these fabulous frames right now.

expect to see a few of these pieces in my home, shortly. :)

beautiful weather makes everything better.

crisp, sunny, and cool. it’s a shame that i’m locked up in a windowless office, but that makes the lunch hour all the more satisfying. one day, i’ll have an outdoor kitchen where i can bake outside when crazy houston weather permits. a little something like this…

isn't it just fabulous?

bienvenue!

have a seat; stay for a while. can i get you something to drink?

after years and years of blogging (since 2002), i've created a new space. out with the old, in with the now.
